Stage 1: New version introduction

Timeframe: 1 month

Goal: Present new UCF structures

Deliverables: New UCF XSDs, documentation, and XML samples

New version introduction

The purpose of the new version introduction stage is to disseminate a working edition of material that the UCF team had been researching and is now ready to formally introduce to the XML licensee community. This does not mean that the UCF team requires our XML licensees to immediately release this new material. All it means, at this point, is that the XML licensee community ensure that they read the materials sent by the UCF team and begin in the discussion process.

XML licensees are sent the proposed XSD structure, along with full documentation and samples

All documentation begins with ensuring that the UCF’s XML samples and XSD files are totally in synchronization. The XSD files are always maintained online. The documentation of the XSD files will always include at least the following:

  • Element names and element types

  • Element descriptions

  • Intermediate UCF rules assigned to each element

  • Use case scenarios where the element’s usage might not be apparent

  • XML licensee’s participation

    1. Read all of the new version documentation sent by the UCF team

    2. Prepare to discuss any matters that are not clear, or that the XML licensee wishes to alter in any fashion

A formal discussion list for the new XSD is started in the discussion forum on the Network Frontiers website

The UCF team, like many other teams, uses a discussion list format for disseminating information to the entire group.

The URL for signing up for the discussion forum is listed HERE.

The UCF team will prepare the discussion list for the topics being added based upon materials listed in the new version being introduced.

    XML licensee’s participation

    1. Ensure that the appropriate members of the XML licensee team are signed up for the discussion server.

    2. Partake in or lead any discussions that are pertinent to the XML licensee’s usage of the new UCF materials. If the XML licensee wishes any changes to the documents, those changes must be discussed in this forum
